Last week, on The Dead Don’t Cry, Jack was assigned to pilot Operation GODSPEAR, a mission to Old Earth. This week, we join Lillian as she and Jack argue over the implications of leaving their daughter behind. Because this is the end of Chapter 2, I will be including the last two sections [Words of Wisdom - GODSPEAR] in addition to “The Reclamation.” As always, enjoy!
So, I noticed you made that passage, with Lucy chasing after the elementary students, more clear and I really like it. I’m enjoying the conflict between the parents…very real and not over the top. The Dr. is starting to challenge my loyalties to her character (this is not a bad thing, it just means I’m reacting emotionally to your story–that’s gotta be a very good thing). I mean my own prejudices say, she should stay home with her daughter…then, I think, as a mother/wife/woman, it is quite unfair the things we must give up (not saying men don’t have this experience too). It’s great that there isn’t one answer to the issue…so many possibilities, just like life.
Some really interesting things happening in your storyworld too. I keep reading not only because of the relationships, but because I want to know more about this world…I’m really looking forward to Old Earth. I really like the idea of how Order is the dominating force (but, I suspect this, like all systems, is corrupt) and how Science plays into things and then the contrast with Mr. Virgil and his promises of something more. very, very good stuff!
What makes you think they’re going to Old Earth
Thank you for the ongoing commentary. Your insight is tremendously useful
